[2020] LKL - Grundlagen / "Kernkompetenzen"

    • Offizieller Beitrag

  • Zitat

If we open up further projects - like the one mentioned above, for example the military hospital - then we will feel it in other places.

Kind of true, but one of the things I encountered whenever I tried to recruit people for the LKL here in Hungary, that they felt like the camp is "just" about mercenaries which in turn for them felt like it's all about fighting (I know it's not true but that was the impression for them)
Having a way more dedicated part in the camp that isn't just about fighting maybe bring us people that otherwise wouldn't join.
I'm not saying it will 100% happen, but basically if we broaden our possibilities we might get more people and it won't take away that many people from other places.

"Ever noticed when you see two groups who really hate each other, chances are good that they are wearing different kind of hats. Keep an eye on that, might be important"

  • There are other Things in the camp than fighting and der should be. The Reason we made this post is to keep the focus of our camp in mind. And that is a mercenery army. Sure the knechts need things to occupy ther sparetime and else, but thats kind of addon to the first aspect. It improves our camp very much to have all the addons, as long as the real purpose is visible.

It is as we hadit with the Steckenkrieg during the last year. We talked a lot of what Steckenkrieg is about and what we would like it to be, and it helped. More people know of it, and know its not som funny beating someone up randomly but a sport. I think that helped a lot.

  • We did have this discussion (the other way round) a few years ago at pilgrims camp (Epic Empires). We were a more or less "pure" fighting camp but wanted to be more of a city. Therefore we added a market and a fair. People began to occupy themselves with handicrafts and services (for example a kiosk and a scriptorium). That added all very nicely to the city-like flair, but it really did not feel like a fighting camp anymore. That was the point we wanted to achieve.
The thing is, this is what we don't want here.
Don't get me wrong; I think a little bit of civilian occupation is nice and very much appreciated! I really enjoy the soaps, the liqueurs, the cards and journals. But that somehow needs to stay mobile and not in a booth or with a real roof. We still are a camp, not a city.
The more war-related or let it be hygienic-related things could, on the other hand, need a dedicated place to be since they, in my opinion, have a real purpose in a mercenary camp. I like the idea of a Bader, which would be the combination of a lazarette military hospital and a place to scrub dirty Knechts to prevent the plague from spreading.

Conclusion? Pro everything! But with a clear focus on the fighting-related things.

I hope that made any sense.

  • I also like the military camp focus we have and it's one of the great advantages of LKL, that we have an actual working hierarchy.
And the non-military aspects should obviously complement this. So stuff that makes sense in a military camp and reasonable to have, basically the "support staff", and we already have a few to some degree but that's where we can improve a little.
And obviously it would be good to get more combatants.

So what I'm trying to say, a heavily military focus is good and maybe it we can improve that too, but it would be nice to get people who do stuff that isn't fighting but either supporting the fighters actively or just there to make the camp life more colorful.

And both the supportive things and making the camp colorful is kind of hard to do it on our own. Obviously we don't have infinite manpower so that's an issue.
But there is two other: the whole Drachenfest sometimes offer those support or colorful stuff that is easier to take than implement it ourselves. Like when the MASH do the healing for us, instead of doing it with our own healers.
The other things is if we solve all our own "problems" by ourselves that limits the outside interactions (but depending on other outside players can bring it's own problem, so yeah...)

Was die Runa sagt.
What Runa says. I would like to draw the line there, too. Keep it mobile, so we don't start looking like a marketplace.

    Zitat von Sonir

The other things is if we solve all our own "problems" by ourselves that limits the outside interactions (but depending on other outside players can bring it's own problem, so yeah...)

Sonir, here I have no worries. We will never solve all our "problems" or fulfill all the needs in-camp. Even if, say, one Knecht opens a cookie business and starts competing with the cookie girls, that would just bring MORE interaction, comparisons, maybe even a lowering of prices due to competition. :o I imagine inviting every cookie girl in for a price and taste comparison... We will always have a variety of people coming to us, interacting and selling their stuff (at least if we can keep this camp position ;) ). At the moment we even agreed that we are a bit too open at the gate. And depending on other players is okay! After all, we as LKL already deeply depend on outside camps and players to hire us. That works fine. And other groups are in the same position, they offer their services, too - be it hospital/healing or cookie selling. Just look at all the places people went to get the fitness certificates. The dependency is equal on all parts.

I would not like to discourage people from handicrafts and services. For me, it is very clear that, as long as someone is in the LKL, they are first and foremost bound by the Artikelbrief and therefore the military aspect stands above all. So, as doing a bit of card selling/wedding planning :* business myself, I am ALWAYS ready to drop my basket at any moment when an order comes to play a signal or to move out. If I'm not ready (and OT content) to do that, then I might be in the wrong place and should maybe consider joining another camp for a year to enjoy marketplace play to the fullest. In this regard, I encourage everybody in the Stab hierarchy down to the Rottmeisters to enforce this IT (more). Please come and ruin my greatest business opportunity of the year because of some little assignment! Thats what I expect by being bound by the Artikelbrief. :D
